FIRST LADY STYLE:   WHITE HOUSE GOWNS Exhibit on display February 12 through August 2 in the Hayes Museum.  This exhibit brings together 29 original and reproduction gowns worn by American First Ladies.  The Center is borrowing garments from the Bush, Eisenhower, Ford, and Reagan Presidential Libraries and Museums as well as from First Lady Laura Bush.  Complimenting the exhibit is a collection of miniature copies of inaugural gowns worn by every First Lady through Hillary Clinton.

Established in 1931, the museum tells the Clyde story and its place in Ohio and American's history. Exhibits range from natural history and pioneer dioramas and an Author Sherwood Anderson section. Military collections spanning the years honor veterans; General James B. McPherson, George Meek, Charles McCleary and Rodger Young. The garage addition houses a 1904 Elmore car, Clydesdale fire engine and truck, photographs of Clydesdale vehicles and a Clyde Cutlery collection. Information on the Whirlpool Corporation is housed in this addition. Museum Hours: Open Thursday 1 pm - 4 pm and by appointment. Built in 1833, this Civil War General's home is listed in the National Register and is recognized with an Ohio Historical Society Marker. Exhibited are period furnishings, portraits of the McPherson family, the General's battle sword, dressing gown and other personal affects. Civil War Era memorabilia and information honoring McPherson are also displayed. James Birdseye McPherson was the Chief Engineer at Alcatraz Island and commanded the Army of Tennessee under General William T. Sherman during the Civil War. Sandusky County is the home of Rutherford B Hayes, the 19th President of the United States.  Original White House gates lead the way to the nations FIRST Presidential Center.

Fishermen from all over the United States converge in the Sandusky River during the Spring Runs of Walleye and White Bass.  Whether fishing from bank or boat, from March through May, catches are plentiful!

The Fremont Speedway plays host to racing every Saturday night from April to September. 410 and 305 sprint cars and trucks battle wheel-to-wheel, sliding around the 1/3 mile semi-banked clay oval.

Visitors enjoy our close proximity to Lake Eries attractions and Cedar Point Amusement Park.  You can enjoy those areas and take advantage of our outstanding, yet affordable hotels and restaurants.
