Is there good fishing in the Sandusky River?
ABSOLUTELY! The Sandusky River
is well known for the Spring Runs of Walleye and White Bass. The
annual Walleye run usually starts in March and runs through
Mid-April followed immediately by the run of White Bass.
Fishermen line the banks of the river between the two bridges in
downtown Fremont. Some fishermen prefer to wade into the river
to test their skills. The law requires the fish be caught on the
hook- no snagging allowed- no treble hooks allowed. Fishing is
allowed from sunrise to sunset
Do you have any swimming beaches
in the county?
YES! Swimmers enjoy the beach at
White Star Park in Gibsonburg, Ohio.

How far is it to Cedar Point from Sandusky County?
Fremont/Sandusky County is
Exit 91 of the Ohio Turnpike- Take the turnpike to exit 110 go
North to Cedar Point. You can also take Route 6 east to
Sandusky to reach the park. Depending on traffic you can
usually get to the park in 30 to 45 minutes. Visit

Is there a shopping mall in Sandusky County?
There are no malls, but the
downtowns of our communities offer great shopping opportunities.
Downtown Fremont has many gift & specialty shops- an art
gallery- a coffee shop and more. In
Woodville you will find many unique stores and shops- including
some great antique shops. Clyde has coffee shops, small quaint
shops and an old armory filled with a combination of antiques
and reproductions.

Saturday evenings at the Sandusky County Fairgrounds (located at

I have heard there is scuba diving in Sandusky County? Where do people go to scuba dive?
Scuba diving is permitted at
the quarry at White Star Park in Gibsonburg. For more details go

How far is Lake Erie from Sandusky County?
Lake Erie and the City of Port
Clinton are 23 miles north on State Route 53.
From Port Clinton you can catch a ferry to Put-in-Bay and the
Lake Erie Islands.
